Unique at the time, Wipeout was noted for its futuristic setting, weapons designed to both stall and destroy enemy opponents and its marketing campaign designed by Keith Hopwood and The Designers Republic. Set in 2052, players compete in the F3600 anti-gravity racing league, piloting one of a selection of craft in races on several tracks around the world. It was re-released as a downloadable game for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable via the PlayStation Network in 2007.
It was originally released in 1995 for PlayStation and DOS, and in 1996 for Sega Saturn, being a launch title for the PlayStation in Europe. It is the first game in the Wipeout series. The cracking sound at the beginning of the original song is meant to imitate the sound of a surfboard breaking.Wipeout (stylised as wipE′out″) is a futuristic racing video game developed and published by Psygnosis. If you don’t live by the beach, you might not know that the term "wipe out" refers to when a surfer falls off of his surfboard. I chose this version since it has a bass guitar feel to it, which makes it slightly more interesting in my opinion. The original song is played in the key of C one octave higher than our guitar lesson. This guitar lesson is not the original version, but a lower-pitched cover. The song was later covered by numerous artists, including the Beach Boys.
Wipe Out was originally recorded by The Surfaris in 1962, who became world-famous thanks to this single, as it is one of the most remembered instrumental songs of all time. My students agree that this is one of the easiest, yet most enjoyable beginner guitar lessons that they learn on our website. Wipe Out has a really energetic drum solo (which is actually a simple drum cadence), which sounds great even by itself, but even more amazing when combined with the electric guitar.
